This is Monday, April 9th 2012 edition of “ALL Things Fantasy”. I talk about some Fantasy Baseball pickups. Also, give some Fantasy Basketball pickups and players I wouldn’t draft next year for my basketball team. Here are my notes from the show.
Guys I want on my squad
Lance Lynn- Listed as a RP, Lynn is a great control pitcher he struck our 8 batters in 6 and 2/3 innings. last year in 34 2/3 innings he had a 3.12 ERA, 1.04 Whip and struck out 40 batters. He could a great season ahead and is an easy breakout candidate
Jeff Samardzja- is another starting pitcher who is listed as a RP but is a starting pitcher. His only issue has been walks. His stuff is SICK NASTY and he will be starting for cubs on a regular basis. His first start was DY-NO-MITEE as almost had complete game going 8 2/3 innings, allowing one 1 run, 4 hits and struck out 8. He could continue to dominate but might lack some Wins b/c the cubbies just don’t score a lot of runs.
Jesus Guzman- I was a fan of this guy last year when he was somehow eligible as SS and 1b in ESPN leagues. This year he is eligible only at 1b but will gain OF eligibility soon. He is probbaly the best hitter for the Padres. Which is like being the Coolest Osborne.
Zack cozart SS for Reds- Has been sensational so far,
Adam Laroche- looks like he is locked in as their first baseman, I would add him but make sure he is getting PT when Michael Morse comes back. Any guy who is starting at first base for a team could be very beneficial for fantasy teams.
Clayton Richard-
A.J. Ellis- is the starting Catcher for the Dogers, Could be very useful in leagues that use 2 catchers
Jason Hammel- Looks to really good and is another RP,SP.
Kyle Seager- has a great start to the season and in Yahoo league is listed as 3b and SS has started 7 for 15 including tonight and with 5 RBI on the season. He could be a break out candidate who no one has really talked about THIS GUY.
Jeff Karstens- took the league by storm last year as he had a career low 3.39 ERA and 1.21 whip. he only struck out 96 batters in 162 innings but only walked33 guys so that’s almost a 3-1 Ks to BB ratio. He started this year off the right way by going 6 innings and only giving up 1 run. He could be a great innings eater and provide a lot of Quality starts.
Charlie Morton- Came from nowhere last year to really produce. He might be back as early as this weekend and could provide a huge boost for fantasy squads
NBA
Guys im not drafting next year
Carmelo-
Amare Stoudimire- is averaging 17.6 points per game and 8 rebounds and a brutal 2.5 Turnovers per game. This is a guy that will be taken purely b/c of name recognition and not stats. Don’t be that person that makes that mistake. My boy Ersan” Illest of the Ill” is averaging 13 points and 9 rebounds while only averaging 1 turnover a game. There isn’t a lot of difference there. Just Saying
Steph Curry- Mr. Glass, too much of an injury risk to draft in the first couple of rounds
Dirka Dirka Dirka- OLD, Wont produce where he is drafted.
Tyreke Evans-
Jrue Holliday- is putting 13.4 points, 3 rebounds, and 4.3 ast per game with 2 turnovers. This guy got drafted 38th according to ESPN and that is beginning of the 4th round. While Darren collision is averaging almost 11 pts, 3 rebounds, and 5 ast per game which is almost as good as Holiday was drafted 50 spots behind him. This is another guy that will be drafted b/c of his name but his stats will hurt ya.
Andrew Bogut- has gotten injured, literally, every single season.
NBA Pickups
Grievis Vazquez is now the starting PG for New Orleans since jarret Jack is out for the season.
Glen Davis could be HUGGEE (no pun intended) down the stretch as it looks like Dwight Howards back is a serious issue that will keep giving him problems the rest of the season. whenever Howard sits that means The Big Baby will be getting starters minutes.
Lester Hudson has been awesome since being recalled from the NBDL. he has averaged 17.5 points, 3.5 Rebounds, 4.5 Ast, and almost 2 steals per game. he signed another 10 day contract so even if Kyrie Irving comes back, look for Hudson to get some Solid PT. He is playing for his NBA career so he will put up max effort.
Danillo Gallinari- Is back from injury today, While I would definitely go pick him up, I prob would not start him until I see him play and produce for a couple of games.
