“All Things Fantasy”

August 28, 2012

This is Monday August 27th, 2012 edition of “All Things Fantasy”. Jeff Erickson, Senior Editor of Rotowire.com and host of Rotowire Fantasy Sports Today on Sirus/Xm satellite radio (XM 87/Sirius 210), joins me to talk some fantasy baseball and Fantasy Football. Also, I give some draft strategies, interesting Handcuffs, and more. My notes from the show are below.

“All Things Fantasy”

Players that seem to be on all my teams

Donald Brown- usually got him as my 3rd or 4th RB

Torrey Smith- Is going to have a huge year. Top 15 potential going in the 7th to 8th rounds

Matt Ryan- Never overpaid for him ( don’t consider round 6 or 7 as overpaying, or 9 dollars in an auction)

Nate Washington- another guy going later in drafts who was great last year that could repeat or even exceed last years number

Greg Olsen/ Fred Davis- Great TE value late in drafts

Players im staying away from

Miles Austin- Always seems injured

MJD- Would rather have an “injury risk” player than a player that might not even play.

Sproles- At best is repeating last years number and don’t think he even does that

Wes Welker- No way he is going to produce numbers like he did last year. Still a solid WR but there are better guys than him at where he is being drafted

Ryan Mathews- Already missing 2 games, who says he won’t miss more?

Draft Strategy- QB early is bad, As there is quality QBs in the later rounds

TE early is even worse.

RBs thin out after round3

 Some Sleepers players

Justin Blackmon- Is going to great in PPR leagues

Dexter McCluster- Probably will have RB/WR eligibility and could get close to 5 catches a game which would be great for PPR leagues

Kevin Ogeltree- Remember what Laurent Robinson did last year? Ogeltree could do it this year if/when Miles Austin gets hurt

Owen Daniels- Still a solid TE. Not a big gamble here

Kyle Rudolph- Everyone is loving this guy, just pay to much for him

Jerome Simpson- He will have a solid season, can get him later b/c he is suspended for the first couple of games

Intersting Handcuffs

Nick Foles- Get him if you own Mike Vick

Lavon Brazil- Austin Collies replacement

Brandon Jackson- Could win the job from Montario Hardesty

Rueben Randle- If Hakeem Nicks gets hurt.

Taiwon Jones- If Darren Mcfadden goes down

” All Things Fantasy” (8-8-12)

August 9, 2012

This is the Wednesday August 8th, 2012 edition of “All Things Fantasy”. David Kerr (@askROTObaseball) joined me to talk all things fantasy  baseball. Also, I give my top 12 players for PPR drafts.

“All Things Fantasy”

My top 12 rankings for a PPR draft. make sure to listen to the show to know why some of my rankings are different and to get the reason why I ranked each player where I did.

1.       Arian Foster

2.       Ray Rice

3.       Lesean Mccoy

4.       Calvin Johnson- By far and away the best WR in the NFL. Most likely to repeat his numbers from last year.

5.       Ryan Mathews- could be inline for a huge year, will catches some passes prob close to 50 and will be the goal line back. He could be just as good as the RBs infront of him.

6.       Aaron Rodgers-

7.       Drew Brees– all 3 of these guys are in the same class, If you don’t believe me then look at last years stats. Brees finished with just 5 points less than Aaron Rodgers last year.

8.       Chris Johnson- Will definitely have a bounce back year and is a safe bet to be a reliable RB. His days of rushing for 2K might be over but hes still one of the best RB in the league.

9.       Tom Brady- Brady could be the best year with a much improved WR core and no Ben Jarvis.

10.   Darren McFadden- when healthy, he  has the ability to be a great RB, but his health has hurt his value.

11.   Fred Jackson- This guy was awesome last year before he got hurt, he catches passes and will be a big part of the Bills Offense

12.   Larry Fitzgerald- IF he had a better QB then he would be fighting with Megatron for #1 status among WR, but hopefully he will have John Skelton.

Jordy Nelson- Was 2nd in the fantasy points among WRs last year and has arguably the best QB in the NFL. He wont get double covered, word out of training camp is that he is playing better this year in camp than last year. Best part is he is dropping to the 3rd round in most fantasy drafts.

“All Things Fantasy” (8-6-12)

August 7, 2012

This is the Monday August 6th, 2012 edition of “All Things Fantasy”. I give my BOLD predictions for this upcoming football season. Also, give some baseball players to pick up for Fantasy Baseball. My notes from the show are attached below. Didn’t put all of my predictions on here that I talked about.

“All Things Fantasy”
Bold Predictions:

Kyle Rudolph finishes as top 10 TE, Fred Davis finishes 3rd among TE in fantasy points.

Toby Gerhart finishes with more TDs than Adrian Peterson.

Jacquizz Rodgers finishes with the most Fantasy points among Atlanta RBs.

Reggie Wayne returns to form and finishes as a top 20 WR.

The Buffalo Bills finish as top 3 Defense.

Jon Baldwin not only has more fantasy points than Dwayne Bowe but finishes as a top 20 WR.

Josh Freeman has a bounce back year and finishes as a top 10 QB and Mike Williams has over 10 TDs.

Jahvid Best will be owned by 0% of Fantasy leagues and will not play a full game this season.

MLB Pickups

Brett Jackson OF, Chicago Cubs (1.5% )- made his Major league debut yesterday  went 2-4 with a run scored. could contribute in SBs and Runs, however he does strikeout a lot

Dan Strailey Oak, SP (11.3%)- made his 1st career major league start and it was a solid performance as he went 6 IP scattering 6 hits while giving up 1 ER and striking out 5.

Patrick Corbin( 0.5%) SP, RP Ariz- was up earlier in the year, but got his first start since being recalled last Wednesday and made the most of it by going 6 innings allowing only 2 hits and walking only 2 batters (0.67 Whip) while allowing 0 ER and striking out 5 batters. he got the  win in that game and

Grant Balfour- RP  Oak (33.7%)- Could take over the closer role as Ryan cook has struggled blowing 4 out his last 5 saves OPs, according to ESPN Balfour hasn’t given up an ER since June 29th.

John Segura 2B, Milw (0.0%)- He was the main piece in the trade the Brew Crew made in the Zach Grienke deal and it looks like he be the everyday SS for the Brewers the rest of the season. he has been tearing up Double-A ball with 4 steals and going 13 for 30 (.433 BA) with the double A team
