“All Things Fantasy” (4-29-13)

This is the Monday April 29th, 2013 edition of “All Things Fantasy”. David Kerr (@askrotobaseball) joins me to talk a lot of different subjects in fantasy baseball. I give a slew of pitchers that are performing well and can they keep it up and some good pitchers that have started off bad. Here are some notes from the show.

Pitchers that are doing well and can they keep it up? (% owned in ESPN leagues)
Patrick Corbin (70.6%..+50 form last week)- 5 GS, 5 QS,1.91 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, 25Ks in 33 IP. pitches @ SD next
Travis Wood (23%)- 5 GS, 5 QS, 2.25 ERA, 0.97 WHIP next start @ SD
Jake Westbrook (19%)- 4 QS,0.98 ERA
Ross Detwiler (79%)-5 GS, 4 QS, 2.03 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, only 16 Ks in 31 IP
Carlos Villanueva (61%)- 2.29 ERA, 0.82 WHIP, 29 Ks in 35.1 IP, 4 QS in 5 GS
Jason Hammel-
Ervin Santana (88%)- 31 Ks in 36 IP, a 2 ERA & 1.03 WHIP, has gone 7 or more innnings in last 4 starts and all have been QS.
Wei Yen CHen
Kevin Correia- 5 QS
Tony Cingrani (90%)- has shined in first 3 starts as a major leaguer. 28 KS in 18 IP
a 1.50 ERA and 0.89 WHIP next start vs Cubs,
Kyle Kendrick (18%) – 2.41 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 4 QS in his last 4 starts including a 3 hit  CG, Shutout in his last start vs the NYM. Gets MIA on Thursday
Bad starting pitchers
Matt Cain- 3 QS, has really had only 2 bad starts one he gave up 9 runs and another her gave up 7. has 26 Ks in 28 IP. a 6.59 ERA and 1.26 WHIP
Roy Halladay- started the year off sluggish as he has a 5.09 ERA and only 1.09 WHIP but has 3 QS and has been sensatioanl in his 3 starts. his ERA is 1.71 and has a 0.62 WHIP during that span 16Ks in 21 IP. 28 Ks in 28 IP
Kris Medlen- has been ok.. has 3 QS in 5 GS, 18 Ks in 31 IP, a 3.26 ERA and 1.36 WHIP
Yovani Gallardo- a 4.97 ERA and 1.66 WHIP 17Ks in 29 IP 2 QS oon the season- struggled in his first 3 starts as they faced COL, ARZ, @STL. 2.50 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in his last 2 QS

“All Things Fantasy” (4-22-13)

This is the Monday April 22nd, 2013 edition of “All Things Fantasy”. I talk about players to trade away/ trade for. Give a couple of pickups and talk some strategy as well as answer some twitter questions. Here are my notes from the show.

Guys im waiting for stock to hit bottom to pickup

John Buck- is 32 and leads the Majors in RBIs. has a .290 Avg (career .230) a .303 OBP which is his career average. he had 1 year were he hit 20 HRs and finished with 60 RBIs, a .314 OBP and .281 avg

Albert Pujols- said his foot is hurting

Desmond Jennings- name is better than his production a career .248 hitter ( sitting at .239 on the year). had a .314 OBP last year and has a 3.04 OBP this year. will he hit 15 homeruns and steal 30 more bags..Probably if your expecting more than that or think his average is miraclesly going to to go up then your crazy.

Eric Hosmer- struggled last year and is struggling this year

Joaquin Benoit- Dont trust him
Carlos Gomez- last year was his first year ever hitting Double digit HRs and is alwasy going to steal bases. his OBP is .3111 (was .305 last year). had only 20 BB all of last year.

Rickie Weeks- why do people this guy is going to turn it around ..he hit .230 avg last year with a .328 OBP. currently hitting .182 BA with a .280 OBP. Strikes out more than once per game had 16 SBs, alst year, 9 year before and 11 before that. granted he did 20 or more HRs in the past 3 season.

Guys im on the fence with

Josh reddick- low average in the 2nd half of last season and has a very low average now. not doing much
Giancarlo Stanton- his stats last April..1 HR, 9 RBIs, a .247 average, and .286 OBP.
This year . 188 BA, .316 OBP 0 HR, 1 RBI
Guys im trading for
David Price/ Matt Cain- both Aces that should turn it around in no time

Josh Willingham- has a .250 BA ( career .260) and a .421 OBP ( career .362), has only 2 HRs, in 44 ABs. has combined for 64 homeruns the 2 last years. he is hitting and gettiing OBP the homeruns will follow

jose bautista- alwasy gets on-base HRs will come.

Josh Hamilton- is healthy

Adrian Beltre- struggling but will turn it around.. Has hit 28 or more runs in the previous 3 years  and surpassed 100 HRs in all those years and has hit 25 or more HRs 7 out of the last 8 years. his BA.224& OBP. 278 are at career lows (.279 BA & .331 OBP)

Adds

Lucas Duda (owned 15%)tied for 2nd in the league in walks with 15 (.475 OBP)

Kyle Seager (57.7% owned) – Leads MLB in doubles with 10.. had 35 of them last year and hit 20 HRs, with 86 RBIs and 13 SBs, was 6th amont 3B among SBs and only guys really count infront of him with Headley and Wright and Prado

“All Things Fantasy” (4-15-13)

This is the Monday April 15th, 2012 edition of “All Things Fantasy”. Michael Pichan (@fantasynomad) of rotoinfo.com joined me to talk about some recent callups, players struggling, and more. Also, Wayne Bretsky of Bretskyball.com joined me in the last segment of the show to talk about players that recently got injured. I give some players to pickup. Here are my notes from the show and some of the exact questions we talked about during the interview.\

Edward Mujica RP- STL(.3%)
Nate Schierholtz OF, CHC (7.2%)- never thought I would be recommending this guy but he has been solid for the cubbies so far as hes posted a .343 avg, .410 OBP, 8 runs, 2 HRs, 6 RBIs, 2 SBs

Zach McAllister SP, CLE(1.4%)- 12 IP, 1 win, 9 Ks, 2.19 ERA, 0.89

Jhonny Peralta (35%)- .319 BA, 4 runs, 1 HR, 6 RBIs, 1 SB, has a hit in 5 straight games and 3 od games have been multi hit games.

Lucas “the Duda” Abides (7%)- a.452 OBP, 3 HRs, 6 RBIs/Runs

Ross Detwiler SP(-28.5%)- 13 IP,  2 QS, 0.69, 1.00 WHIP..only 6 Ks, next start is vs MIA on WED
Chris johnson (10%)- leads all third basemen with over 30 ABs in BA with a .405.. has a 4 game hitting streak including a 4 for 5 day yesterday. has 6 runs,1 HR, 4 RBIs.
Interview with Wayne Bretsky and the injured players we talked about
Yoenis Cespedes: should only be out 15 days and is a great buy low candidate.
Aramis Ramirez: doesnt sound like he is going to return when eligible could be an extra week or 2.

“All Things Fantasy” (4-8-13)

In this Monday April 8th, 2013 edition of “All Things Fantasy” I interview Jeff Erickson (@Jeff_Erickson), whos the senior editor of rotowire.com, to talk all things fantasy baseball.  This is the Wednesday April 3rd, 2012 edition of “All Things Fantasy”. David Kerr (@askROTObaseball) joined me for the entire to show to talk all things fantasy baseball. Here are some of the things we talked about and below that are some 50% or less owned 2 start pitchers for next week.

After leading the majors in ST homeruns then hitting 2 of them last night. Is Michael Morse back/ for real?
